One thing that I didn't want was a black tank - they tend to sweat in my basement so I like to be able to see if there is mold growing so I can clean it when necessary, and if it was black that becomes impossible. They have videos to walk you through programming and setup, and there are tons of other videos on YouTube demonstrating everything. I bought my Fleck from and got free shipping - total was $569 for a 48k grain 5600SXT. The fact that you are replacing a unit and not installing a new one from scratch makes everything a lot easier. I also already had a drain line from the Culligan, but it was larger diameter than what the Fleck's nipple was so I got an adapter so that I wouldn't need to run a whole new drain line. I ended up putting male threaded connectors onto the CPVC and attached the Fleck to them with the corrugated stainless steel flex lines you can find near the water heaters at the big box stores. My old Culligan was plumbed in with CPVC and I had taken it apart to move it a couple years back so I knew what to expect. I'm pretty comfortable with plumbing, so it was very easy.
